Chart guide & details
Faint blue-gray marks night at the selected station, fading smoothly through astronomical, nautical and civil twilight to sunrise, and reversing at sunset. Approximate solar position, not cloud cover; daylight stays clear.
The thin station accent follows the Sun’s position at the selected station right now: coastal blue by day, a little peach near the horizon, and soft periwinkle at night. An artistic daylight cue, not observed sky conditions; it stays at the current time during replay.
KPI range bars: endpoint labels are rounded to whole units; hover the bar for precise min/max. The shaded segment shows minimum–maximum in the selected chart window; dark dot is the current reading; fading dots trace up to six recent readings, oldest faintest. Wind, gust and DELTA have a zero baseline. Weather ranges use observations only, excluding forecasts; tide uses predictions across the selected window. Missing values are excluded. Direction keeps its compass because bearings wrap around north.
Pale-blue forecast area: hourly rain probability (%) from the wind/tide zero baseline, behind wind bars. Read it on the right numeric axis: 75 means 75% for rain, not 75 knots. Hover for exact probability. Missing probabilities remain gaps; 0% stays at zero. Only future forecast periods are shown. Tail replay holds the current forecast in place; it does not show historical forecasts.
Orange: pressure · pale blue: signed six-minute pressure change · dark blue: pressure + tide height · gray markers: pressure tail · purple markers: cumulative feather on its own centered scale. Both fade toward their older ends. Small arrows point toward the wind source at each sample (north up, east right), matching WIND FROM. Calm or missing wind direction keeps a plain dot.
Green wind + colored DELTA = gust, drawn in front of the tide. Lower tide uses its actual height: 6 ft reaches 6 on the shared numeric scale. Dark blue marks 11:00–18:00 on the station’s local clock. Gray band: 10–39 kn; reference line: 15 kn. Pressure MIN/MAX use only this view’s readings.
How the layers share one plotting area
Lower layers: display coordinate = 960 + wind (kn) or tide (ft). Upper blue line: pressure (mb) + tide height (ft), so zero tide touches the orange pressure line. These are visual offsets, not physical unit conversions. The left scale reads pressure; the right scale reads lower wind/tide values.
Daily tails: anchor pressure + accumulated pressure change. The default consecutive-change formula simplifies to anchor pressure − the older reading; each tail ends on its day’s orange pressure value. Each day anchors at the same local clock time, looking back 24 hours. Dots every 30 minutes; missing readings stop a tail. The purple feather sums anchor minus every prior reading. It uses a separate centered zero line and one symmetric scale calculated from all possible 24-hour anchor windows in the displayed history. That scale stays fixed through replay and across days; it is not the pressure axis. Hover gives raw sums. Neither tail changes the main axis range. Both formulas remain drafts for comparison with Domo.
Rocker reverses at the ends; Repeat keeps the cycle going. At 16×, a full 24-hour replay takes about 7.5 seconds after preparation. Motion is interpolated between six-minute readings. The opening view plays once and keeps its paths; reduced-motion preferences disable automatic playback. Only the tails move during replay. Axes, observations, KPIs, and the current forecast remain fixed until Back to live. Each daily tail recalculates its preceding 24 hours. Missing readings stay missing.

Orange marker: nearest prediction to now · darker blue: 11:00–18:00 station time
Blue: predicted astronomical tide. Orange: observed water level at this station; recent readings may be preliminary. Both use feet MLLW. Δ = observed minus predicted at the same timestamp. Missing observations remain gaps; future values are predictions only.

Direction colors match the compass chart. Wind / gust: deeper blue = stronger (0–30 kn). DELTA: blue below 5, purple 5–10, red above 10 kn. Missing readings stay blank.
